07-29-2013 The children of Azure Meadows Subdivision, Taylorsville, Utah, were surprised, educated, and entertained by a special guest appearance of Slyde the Playground Hound. Slyde made his appearance in celebration of a new park playground grand-opening.
It’s hard to describe the energy and excitement experienced by everyone there. The kids loved Slyde and, as you well know, Slyde loves children. They even convinced Slyde to play on the equipment with them. The children all put their name in a drawing to win free Slyde stuff like puzzles, story books, and Slyde the Playground Hound game. Everyone got Slyde stickers and posed for a picture with their favorite playground safety hound, Slyde. Fun times for all!
The previous Saturday was “work day”. Neighbors, parents, children and friends of Azure Meadows neighborhood in Taylorsville, UT gathered early to dedicate their day to transforming their park into something special. They dug holes, bolted playground parts together, leveled and plumbed and dug some more. Then, by late afternoon they poured the concrete that signified the end of a long day, hard work, and a job well done.
If you had seen the job site at 7:00 AM when the neighborhood barely started unwrapping the packing materials and then saw it again at 5:30 PM when the concrete was finally done, you would have said it was a miracle. But you would be wrong – it was a team of dedicated parents, friends and neighbors all pulling together to make a good neighborhood better . . . and their park great.
The equipment selected by the whole neighborhood, under the direction of Rhetta McIff, Neighborhood Coordinator for the City of Taylorsville, was purchased from LuckyDog Recreation, a team of playground professionals that distribute PlayCraft Systems in Idaho, Utah, and Wyoming. The installation was built under the supervision of a professional playground installation company, Picture Perfect Playgrounds. A big thank-you to all the dedicated folks of Taylorsville that made this happen. Congratulations All!
And where will you spy Slyde next? . . . Stay tuned!
